FUSHCO, LLC | Tomah, Wisconsin

About Us

Brick Productions brings people together through live music, theatre, comedy, and special events. As part of FUSHCO, LLC, we work alongside Brick Sip Haus and Brick & Bean Coffee to create memorable experiences for our guests and a supportive environment for performers and staff.

Position Summary

The Audio Technician sets up, operates, and maintains sound equipment for live performances, rehearsals, private gatherings, and special events. This role works closely with performers and production staff to deliver clear, balanced audio, execute sound cues, and resolve technical issues. Preparation, attentive listening, and calm problem-solving are essential to keeping each event running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review event plans, performer requirements, and sound needs with the production team before each event.
  • Set up and connect microphones, speakers, monitors, mixing consoles, playback devices, and related equipment.
  • Route and secure cables to keep performance areas and walkways organized and safe.
  • Conduct equipment checks and sound checks, addressing problems before guests arrive.
  • Operate audio mixing consoles during performances, balancing vocals, instruments, and playback for the audience and performers.
  • Adjust gain, equalization, dynamics, and effects as appropriate to maintain clarity and control feedback.
  • Manage stage monitor mixes and respond professionally to performer requests.
  • Prepare and execute music, sound effects, and playback cues according to scripts, cue sheets, and production direction.
  • Coordinate with lighting technicians, stage management, event staff, and performers on timing and transitions.
  • Monitor sound levels and follow venue procedures for audience comfort and hearing safety.
  • Troubleshoot microphones, cables, connections, playback systems, and other audio issues promptly.
  • Check wireless microphone batteries and connections and prepare backup equipment when available.
  • Save and organize console settings, show files, and cue documentation for future use.
  • Complete equipment shutdown, breakdown, and storage after events.
  • Inspect and care for audio equipment, report damage or malfunctions, and communicate supply or repair needs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized technical workspace and protect equipment from spills and unauthorized use.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of live sound equipment, signal flow, microphone placement, and mixing techniques.
  • Familiarity with digital mixing consoles; experience with Allen & Heath systems is helpful.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot common audio problems.
  • Strong listening skills and attention to detail.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to stay focused throughout rehearsals and performances.
  • Clear communication and a professional, collaborative approach with performers and staff.
  • Ability to follow cue sheets, take direction, and respond calmly when event needs change.
  • Previous live sound, theatre, concert, or event production experience preferred.
  • Willingness to learn venue-specific equipment and procedures.

Schedule and Work Environment

Scheduling is based on rehearsals, performances, and event needs and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shifts may include advance setup, sound checks, event operation, and breakdown. Work takes place in performance spaces with varying lighting conditions and amplified sound.

Physical Responsibilities

The role involves standing or sitting at a sound console for extended periods, moving around performance areas, bending, reaching, and handling cables and equipment. Moving heavier speakers or equipment requires appropriate lifting methods, equipment, or team assistance. Essential duties may be performed with reasonable accommodation.

What Success Looks Like

Sound is clear and balanced, performers feel supported, and cues happen at the right moment. A successful Audio Technician arrives prepared, communicates effectively, resolves issues with minimal disruption, and leaves equipment organized and ready for the next event.
