Reports to: Bar Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Barback supports bartenders by keeping the bar stocked, clean, and organized throughout service. This hands-on role helps maintain efficient operations during regular business hours, live performances, and private events. Barbacks anticipate supply needs, assist with guest areas, and help the team deliver attentive, welcoming service.

Key Responsibilities

• Restock beverages, ice, glassware, garnishes, napkins, and other bar supplies.
• Monitor supply levels during service and replenish items before they run out.
• Wash, sanitize, and organize glassware, bar tools, and service equipment.
• Collect used glasses, clear tables, and keep guest areas clean and welcoming.
• Empty trash and recycling, address spills promptly, and maintain clear walkways.
• Assist with preparing garnishes and other service supplies using proper food-handling practices.
• Receive and put away deliveries, rotate stock, and report shortages or damaged products.
• Assist trained staff with keg changes and beverage-system needs as assigned.
• Complete opening and closing duties, including stocking, cleaning, and organizing storage areas.
• Help set up and break down bar service areas for private gatherings and special events.
• Communicate with bartenders and management about supply needs, guest concerns, and equipment problems.
• Follow sanitation, workplace safety, and company procedures.
• Support responsible alcohol service by promptly reporting concerns to a bartender or manager and performing only duties authorized for the role.

• Previous restaurant, bar, or hospitality experience is helpful but not required.

Schedule and Work Environment

Scheduling is based on business and event needs and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work takes place in an active bar and entertainment venue where noise levels and service volume vary. The role includes frequent movement between the bar, guest areas, and storage spaces.

Physical Responsibilities

The role involves standing and walking throughout a shift, bending, reaching, and carrying supplies, glassware, ice, and beverage cases. Barbacks may assist with moving heavier items using appropriate equipment or team assistance. Essential duties may be performed with reasonable accommodation.

What Success Looks Like

Bartenders have the supplies and clean glassware they need, guest areas stay tidy, and service runs smoothly. A successful barback anticipates needs, communicates clearly, works safely, and takes pride in keeping the team ready for the next guest.
