Reports to: Director of Bar Operations

Position Summary

The Bartender prepares and serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages while providing attentive, personable service. This role combines drink preparation, guest interaction, responsible alcohol service, and teamwork to keep the bar welcoming, organized, and running smoothly during regular service, live performances, and private events.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome guests, take orders, and offer recommendations based on their preferences.
• Prepare cocktails and other beverages consistently using established recipes, portions, and presentation standards.
• Serve beer, wine, spirits, and nonalcoholic beverages with care and accuracy.
• Learn the beverage menu, featured offerings, and upcoming events.
• Enter orders accurately in the Toast POS system, process payments, and manage cash and guest tabs.
• Check identification and follow applicable alcohol service requirements and company policies.
• Monitor guest consumption, recognize signs of intoxication, and decline service when appropriate, involving management as needed.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary bar, including glassware, tools, equipment, and service areas.
• Restock beverages, ice, garnishes, and supplies; communicate shortages and inventory needs.
• Complete opening and closing duties, including assigned cleaning and cash reconciliation.
• Work with barbacks, management, and event staff to keep service efficient.
• Respond professionally to guest questions and concerns, seeking management support when necessary.
• Follow food safety, workplace safety, and incident-reporting procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Dependability, punctuality, and a professional, welcoming attitude.
• Attention to detail when preparing drinks, entering orders, and handling payments.
• Ability to manage multiple orders and stay composed during busy service.
• Willingness to learn recipes, service standards, and POS procedures.
• Ability to work cooperatively and take initiative when tasks need attention.
• Prior bartending or hospitality experience preferred.
• Must meet applicable age, training, and licensing requirements for assigned duties.

Schedule and Work Environment

Scheduling is based on business and event needs and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work takes place in an active bar and entertainment venue where noise levels and service volume vary.

Physical Responsibilities

The role involves standing and moving throughout a shift, bending and reaching for supplies, carrying beverages and glassware, and assisting with restocking. Essential duties may be performed with reasonable accommodation.

Guests feel welcomed and well cared for, beverages are prepared consistently, transactions are accurate, and the bar remains clean and ready for service. A successful bartender supports teammates, practices responsible service, and helps make Brick Sip Haus a place guests want to return to.
